We are sad to repoirt the passing of Richard Hellmich. Richard’s family will be having a Celebration of Life gathering on Friday, February 17, 2023, at the South Milwaukee Knights of Columbus Hall, 732 Badger Avenue, South Milwaukee, starting at 4:00pm. In Richards honor and love of a good Wisconsin fish fry, a traditional fish fry/ baked cod meal will be provided beginning at 6:00pm.

Awarded Star Council

District Deputy Les Kostera presented Council 1709 past Frand Knight Mike Kaplanek with the prestigious Star Council Award. The Award, which was presented at the October meeting recognizes the outstanding achievement in membership, insurance, Programing and overall operations. Earing a Star Award is the marker of a high performing Knights of Columbus Unit. Deptuty Director Kostera noted the coucils communit services as a major reason for selecting this coucil as a recipent of the Award.

Brings Christmas Cheer to local Seniors
Annual Holiday Craft/Vendor Fair and Bake Sale Kicks off Holiday Season
Kicking off the Holiday season, the Lady’s Auxiliary held the annual Holiday Craft/Vendor Fair and Bake sale on November 12th featuring a wide assortment of holiday crafts and treats. The well attended event raises funds for the Auxiliary’s work throughout the year such as purchasing clothes and winter coats for kids in need. Thank you to the many volunteers who help make this event possible.
2nd Annual Vegas Night for Honor Flights.
A Fun Filled Fundraiser raised $6000 for Honor Flights
Council 1709 Vegas Night for the Stars and Stripes Honor Flights proved to be a “winning bet” once again this year! The event held on November 12th raised $6000 to thank our nations veterans for their service by sending them on an all expense paid trip to Washington DC to tour the monuments. Many thanks to all the volunteers who worked so hard to make this event a success.
